Notes:
  • "Valid" times: "Z" indicates "Universal Time Coordinates"; so during summer (DST) we're at [ Z - 4 hrs ] (eg. "12Z" = 08:00 here), and winter (EST) it's [ Z - 5 hrs ] ("12Z" = 07:00)
  • "'Significant Wave Height' is the average height (meters) of the highest one-third of the waves during a 20 minute sampling period; [while] 'Swell height' is the vertical distance (meters) between any swell crest and the succeeding swell wave trough." (FNMOC docs)
  • "The Global implementation of WW3 became operational at FNMOC in August 2001, replacing the third-generation Wave Model (WAM)." (FNMOC docs)

And this, from Willy da Kid 'sick4surf' Mr. Late [takeoff] CLIMB trail steward da Baker:

The Buddha said, "We are what we think, all that we are arises with our thoughts, with our thoughts we make our world; think with a pure mind and happiness will follow you."

 • A note about this page:
-- This page is a good example of a bad user interface / bad web design.

-- It started out with the "Tides" form (upper left) as a "convenience" - on my home PC - to consolidate a number of disparate bookmarks to tide charts and tables (which, by itself, is OK and functional, but..) then I added a few other links to surf cams and to some of the wave "models", then a friend wanted to make use of it so I put it on my web site .. and then I added some more links to... (you get the idea...)

-- Someday (uh-huh..) I'll organize everything into a nice presentation, maybe with a categorical menu, and then I could add links to...
  ;-)

-- Oh yeah .. I also used some `styles` and some scripting without regard to cross-platform compatibility.
